Tour Peru 6D/5N

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO AREQUIPA / CITY TOUR

Arrival to the city of Arequipa and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon (14:00 hrs), we will start the city tour, we will go to the viewpoints of Carmen Alto and Yanahuara, from these places we will have panoramic views of the city and the Misti volcano. Then, we will go to the main square, where we will receive explanations about the cathedral, the portals that are around the square, and the church of the Company of Jesus (only facades). Afterwards, we will go to the Santa Catalina monastery, a 17th century cloister in the style of different Spanish cities of the time. In this way we will finish our city tour. Overnight in Arequipa.

DAY 2: AREQUIPA – COLCA

At 8:00 am, we will leave towards the Colca Valley, through the town of Yura, passing through the National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Pampa Cañahuas, natural habitat of alpacas and vicuñas. You will make a stop in Patahuasi to refresh yourself and drink an infusion of coca or muña. The tour continues with a visit to Patapampa and the viewpoint of the Andes where you can see the volcanoes surrounding the city of Arequipa. After this, we will continue towards the city of Chivay, where you will have lunch (lunch not included) and spend the night.

After lunch we will drop you off at the hotel. In the afternoon, at the coordinated time we will take you to the thermal baths “La calera” (Optional). Overnight at the hotel in Chivay.

DAY 3: CRUZ DEL CONDOR – PUNO

Very early in the morning, we will leave to the “Cruz del Condor” (41 Km. from Chivay) where we will observe one of the most spectacular places of the Canyon. Here we will be able to appreciate the condors in masterful flights. We will return visiting the villages of Pinchollo, Maca, Achoma, Yanque and the viewpoints of Antahuilque and Choquetico. At noon we will arrive in Chivay for lunch (not included).

After lunch we will depart to the city of Puno by the same route of the first day taking the detour in Patahuasi. On the way we will observe different Andean landscapes, such as stone forests, huge lagoons with a variety of birds, small villages of the area, the villages of Imata and we will make a brief stop in Lagunillas where you can see beautiful landscapes of the area (4,444 meters above sea level). After six hours of travel we will be arriving in Puno. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Puno.

DAY 4: UROS – AMANTANI

At 07:30 am, we will pick you up from the hotel to go to the main port, where you will embark and start the navigation on the highest navigable lake in the world “Titicaca”. Our first stop will be in one of the islands of Uros, a culture more than 3,000 years old that builds its houses in the middle of the lake thanks to the use of a vegetable called totora. We will learn how they build their homes and more about their way of life. Optionally, we can navigate in a traditional totora reed boat, then we will continue our trip to Amantani Island, where some of its inhabitants will welcome us in their typical family houses where we will share pleasant and unforgettable moments with them, also they will share their food made from natural products of the place.

During the afternoon, we will be able to walk to the top of the island known as “pachatata”, which is located at 4,130 meters above sea level, from where we have an unbeatable perspective of Lake Titicaca and its spectacular sunset. Then, we will return to our assigned place of lodging, and in the evening you will attend for a couple of hours to an Andean music show.

DAY 5: TAQUILE

We will wake up early to have breakfast and say goodbye to Amantani, then we will embark and head to the island of Taquile, which in colonial times was used as a prison. There we will be able to interact with the inhabitants, who will show us their textile handicrafts and some of their ancestral customs. We will also be able to walk around part of the island, visiting some non-touristy areas where we will find temples, tombs and terraces from the pre-Inca period. Afterwards, we will have some time for lunch; then, we will go down to the port to take our boat and start the return trip to Puno, arriving at the port of Puno at 5.30 pm approximately. Overnight in Puno.

DAY 6: PUNO / DEPARTURE

At the coordinated time, departure transfer to the international airport “Inca Manco Capac” in the city of Juliaca. End of service.
